Located 1 hour by plane from Bangkok is Krabi. Thailand is divided into three parts: North, Provence and the South. The south is comprised of many islands, Krabi, Phuket, and small towns to explore. When researching where to go, I picked Krabi because of it’s central location.
You can get anywhere from here. There is a local airport where you can grab a taxi or van to take you to Krabi Town, Ao Nang beach or any other local areas. This will cost about 150 baht and an hour or two worth of time, if going by van. You can catch speed boats, passenger boats to places such as Ko Phi Phi, Ko Lanta, and Phuket (this will take about 4 hours). Vans can also be rented for around 2,500 baht this is a great option if you are limited on time and have 3 or more people to split the cost.
Let’s get back to Ao Nang Beach. Not knowing what to expect from this place I was not overly impressed. There are tourist everywhere and the beach is over crowded. The board walk is lined with restaurants, bars, and tour companies. Finding a place to sleep will not be hard, hostels, guest houses and hotels are everywhere! If you are looking for a peaceful retreat, this is not the place for you. But if drinking, shopping, and eating is what you like this will be the perfect location.
Head here for a day as a jumping off place to the islands and make sure you read trip advisor reviews on the tour companies. We took a 7 island sunset tour with Mariam Travel…AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE!
